Does Rihanna have a new boyfriend? The singer, who seems to have moved on from her ex Chris Brown following their altercation before the Grammys in February, stepped out with a new guy in NY, according to a source at the Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge. The man in question is Canadian hip-hop artist Aubrey "Drake" Graham, who seems to have turned on the charm and left the singer looking "absolutely glowing". According to the insider: "The two of them were stealing kisses here and there the whole night." The pair apparently danced until midnight before leaving together. "They were very cute. Both of them were in really good spirits [and] she was having a great time," adds the source. Neither Rihanna nor Graham's rep has made a comment about the romance. (British Glamour)
Kara DioGuardi and "Bikini Girl" Katrina Darrell faced off again on last night's American Idol finale. The duo famously sparred during tryouts, when DioGuardi trashed Darrell's rendition of Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" -- and then burst into the tune herself. Darrell then slammed DioGuardi's version, before Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson voted her through. On last night's show, Darrell showed off her bikini bod once again -- and noticeably larger breasts. Joked Ryan Seacrest: "I'd ask what's new, but I already know!" Darrell broke into her infamous Carey song -- and appeared surprised when DioGuardi suddenly joined her for a duet. At the end of the song, DioGuardi ripped off her dress to reveal her bikini bod -- and Seacrest announced they dared her to in exchange for a donation to her favorite charity. (US Weekly)
Usually, celebrities go on talk shows to apologize, not apologize after they go on talk shows. Leave it to Alec Baldwin to break from the usual convention. The 30 Rock star has issued a mea culpa to the people of the Philippines—and any other viewer—who took offense to an offhand joke he delivered during his appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman last Tuesday. "I'd like to offer an apology and a clarification to remarks I made recently," he writes on the Huffington Post. "While on the David Letterman program, I joked that I might need a 'mail-order bride' to achieve the goal of having more children in my life. I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such. (A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancing age.) "However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense." (Eonline)
Trying to keep a promise to gravely ill mom Farrah Fawcett, Redmond O'Neal has taken another step toward straightening out and cleaning up. After spending almost a month in a downtown Los Angeles lockup, the drug-addicted son of the cancer-stricken Charlie's Angels star and Ryan O'Neal has been transferred to another jail specializing in hard-core rehab. The move came after a judge determined that the younger O'Neal couldn't enter a private drug-treatment facility, according to L.A. sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. O'Neal, 24, will spend 18 months in the new jail, which will provide a strict regimen of daily activities including group counseling, drug testing and educational programs. (Eonline)
British actress Lucy Gordon, who appeared in Spider-Man 3, was found dead in her Paris apartment after apparently committing suicide, French police said Thursday. She was 28. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, though it appeared to be a suicide, said an official with the Paris police headquarters. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of police agency policy, gave no details. Gordon, who would have turned 29 on Friday, appeared in a dozen films, including as reporter Jennifer Dugan in Spider-Man 3. She portrays British singer and actress Jane Birkin in an upcoming biopic about Serge Gainsbourg. Gordon's father said the death was a "complete shock." Speaking from the family's home in Oxford, Richard Gordon told Britain's Press Association that his daughter was "a natural actress all her life, since she was about 2." "She's always loved being on stage and in front of the camera and she has kept all her naturalness and charm all the way through. She has been the most beautiful daughter. We are obviously devastated." He said she loved her latest role, in the Gainsbourg film, and thought the cast was "wonderfully creative and supportive." He added that his daughter spent much of her childhood and her summer vacations in France and was bilingual. She recently moved to Paris after living in New York. Gordon's agents did not return phone calls seeking comment Thursday. (Daily Record)
THE OTHER STUFF . . .
As a child star, Brooke Shields was always watched over by Teri Shields, a stage mom known for her tenacity. And now that her mother has been diagnosed with dementia and is living in an assisted living facility, it's Brooke who watches over Teri, say friends of the star. "Her devotion is very apparent,” says longtime pal Anna Strasberg. "Brooke takes care of Teri. There's a bond there. It's not a public thing for show. It's very deeply personal." When New Jersey police informed Shields, 43, that a reporter and a photographer had checked her mother out of her assisted living facility on May 14, Shields was forced to go public with a painful decision – that she had moved her mother, now 75, into the nursing home. Shields has released the following statement to PEOPLE: "My mother Teri Shields has been diagnosed with dementia. For her safety, she has temporarily been in a senior living facility, a very difficult decision for me." Rocky Relationship Relations with her mom have not always been smooth for the star, who has two daughters of her own, Rowan, 6, and Grier, 3, with husband Chris Henchy, 45. Shields has described Teri – who was widely criticized for allowing her then-12-year-old daughter to play a child prostitute and appear nude in the 1978 film Pretty Baby – as an alcoholic. In 1995, Brooke fired her mother as her manager. (Teri divorced Brooke's father, Frank Shields, when Brooke was an infant.) But the bond between mother and daughter, at times strained, was never broken. "It was us against everybody," Brooke recently told More magazine. Shields's friend Anne Strasberg, who has hosted Brooke and her mother for Thanksgiving and other holidays, notes how Brooke dotes on Teri. "When Brooke has her mother at gatherings, she knows that her friends know the situation and Teri's not pushed aside – she is part of her life and that is so beautiful to watch," she says. "It is painful and it's beautiful." "They watch the floats and the [Thanksgiving] parade go by,” adds Strasberg. "Brooke is very tender and keeps watch over her to make sure she is okay, and that someone is talking to her. Teri may not be able to always have lucid moments, and she may not always be able to voice her feelings, but some moments are beautiful." Another of Brooke's friends, Broadway director Kathleen Marshall, says of Teri's deteriorating health, "[Brooke]'s very direct and honest but doesn't dwell on it." (People)
The secret is out on a clandestine billionaires' summit held in Manhattan earlier this month, when some of the wealthiest Americans met behind closed doors to plot strategies for weathering the economic downturn and coordinating their global philanthropic efforts. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett organized the hush-hush huddle held in a Rockefeller University conference room on the Upper East Side with Mayor Bloomberg, George Soros, Oprah Winfrey, Eli Broad, Ted Turner, David Rockefeller Sr. and David Rockefeller Jr., among others. Topic No. 1 during the May 5 conclave was which of the moguls' favorite causes -- such as disease control or government reform -- needed extra help during the downturn. They also sought ways to encourage the common man to keep making small-change donations, an aide to one participant said. IrishCentral.com, which first reported on the powwow, said Gates and Buffett also solicited views on how the group should respond to the global economic climate. CNN founder Turner, a staunch conservationist and United Nations supporter, was reportedly the most outspoken -- he's known as Capt. Outrageous and the Mouth of the South -- while talk-show queen Oprah was in "listening mode." In all, the attendees have donated a collective $70 billion since 1996, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Bloomberg, worth an estimated $20 billion, yesterday declined to discuss specifics of the meeting. "I meet periodically with lots of my friends who are philanthropic," he said. "All my friends are philanthropic or they probably wouldn't be my friends . . . There are meetings all over this city and there are some very powerful people in this city." (Page Six)
Britney Spears showed off her fit bikini bod while on vacation in The Bahamas Wednesday. "Nothing better than a day at the beach with my family!" she wrote on Twitter. The 27-year-old spent time building sand castles with her sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2. She also hung out with her dad, Jamie, brother Bryan and agent, Jason Trawick. The singer just wrapped up the North American leg of her Circus tour. She kicks off her European shows on June 3 in London. (US Weekly)
Alec Baldwin is apologizing for making a joke about getting a Filipino mail-order bride that provoked a sharp response in the Philippines. The Emmy-winning actor quipped during a May 12 interview on The Late Show with David Letterman that he would love to have more children and that he was "thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point ... or a Russian one." On Wednesday, Baldwin posted on The Huffington Post that he was apologizing "to anyone who took offense." He said, "I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such." Philippine Sen. Ramon Revilla said Monday that Baldwin's comment was "insensitive and uncalled for." He threatened him with a beating and said the 30 Rock star is apparently unaware that the Philippines has a law against mail-order brides. (Daily Record)
Peter Andre flew back to the UK last night to face his estranged wife Katie Price. The singer has been staying in Cyprus since his marriage broke up but is back in the UK to have crisis talks about the future of his marriage and kids. "Peter has come back to the UK as he wants to see the children as soon as possible," his rep said. Andre admitted yesterday that he was missing his kids "like mad". It is not known whether Katie Price has yet returned from the Maldives; their meeting has been scheduled for today. (British Glamour)
Beyonce Knowles keeps motivated during strenuous work-outs by staring at a painting of an Academy Award and dreaming of the day she takes home the statuette. The singer-turned-actress' home gym features a picture of an iconic gold Oscar, so she can keep her eyes on the goal she is working toward. She tells Self magazine, "I look at it, and I'm like, Ok, I have to stay in shape." And the 27 year old also goes shopping to give herself incentives to tone up: "I buy something too small and then say, 'I have a reason (to exercise) - I need to wear these jeans or this hot dress.'" But the bootylicious beauty doesn't want to lose all her curves - because she wasn't happy about the 15 pounds (seven kilograms) she shed for her role in 2006's Dreamgirls. She says about her thinner frame: "I felt very chic, like a model. But it didn't look natural for me. I didn't feel very sexy or feminine, and I didn't have much confidence because I didn't feel like myself." (Teen Hollywood)
