Some of Barbra Streisand's long-hidden secrets will be bared in a new tell-all by her ex-boyfriend Hollywood producer Jon Peters -- who claims the beloved diva was sexually abused by a slimy movie mogul and had affairs with three of her leading men. In the proposal for his memoir, "Studio Head," which was sold last month to Harper- Collins for $700,000, Peters writes he "wanted to kill" Ray Stark, producer of "Funny Girl" and "The Way We Were," when he learned that "Stark, an ogre of male chauvinistic casting-couch sexual entitlement, had molested both Lesley Ann [Warren] and Barbra when they were auditioning for him, and neither had ever really gotten over it." Streisand's publicist, Ken Sunshine, did not return repeated calls, nor did a rep for Warren. Peters writes that "Barbra may have had her neuroses and insecurities, but getting men, the men every woman wanted, was not one of them." He claims she confided in him that she'd had "life-imitates-art affairs with Robert Redford on 'The Way We Were' and Ryan O'Neal on 'What's Up, Doc?' and had just ended another with Kris Kristofferson, then at his hunkiest" in "A Star Is Born." Reps for Redford and O'Neal didn't return our calls, and Kristofferson's rep had no comment. The four-times-married hairdresser-turned-moviemaker also says he had a fling with a pre-"Basic Instinct" Sharon Stone, who "may have been a cyclone sexually, but a black hole where need was concerned . . . Not even [I] could turn her into the superstar she expected to be fast enough." A rep for Stone had no comment. Peters, who produced "Superman Returns" and "Batman," says his other belt notches include Kim Basinger, Pamela Anderson, Nicollette Sheridan, Salma Hayek and Catherine Zeta-Jones. He brags he "became a Hollywood legend for seduction as much as production." (Page Six)
PR guru Max Clifford has confirmed he is “not representing” Peter Andre following the breakdown of the singer’s marriage to Katie Price. A spokesperson for Max Clifford has told handbag.com there are “no truths” in the rumors that the PR guru will be representing Peter Andre following his break-up from Katie Price. “I’m afraid there is no truth in the reports. We are not representing Peter Andre,” the source said. This news comes just hours after reports the glamour model has split with her management agency, Can Associates Limited. Price’s split from her management team led to guesses as to which PR would pick her up and Clifford was quick to declare that he could not work with her. “I can only represent people who listen to me,” he told Heat magazine. “I think I know [Katie] well enough to know it wouldn’t work.” Clifford predicted earlier this week that Peter’s career would have a major boost following his split from Katie. He told the Metro newspaper, “He has the best opportunity now to re-launch himself as a presenter or an actor or whatever.” (Handbag)
Katie Price has had a pretty rough week. She just can't seem to hold onto anything! First, she and her man, Peter Andre, split up - and she blamed him for the separation. He blamed her hard-partying ways. Now, her management of five years is dropping her. Ouch! The company released this statement to PerezHilton.com, announcing the split: Can Associates Limited announce the release of our client Katie Price from our management. We have represented Katie since February 2004, during that time we have worked hard to build Katie as a successful individual and brand, moving her from a glamour model and repositioning her as the country’s foremost female celebrity, with a string of products and successful endorsements. We wish Katie every success for the future. That's really kind of cold, dropping her right after her divorce. (Perez Hilton)
Olivia Palermo, who plays a working girl on MTV's "The City," is getting a new "job" for the show's next season. We hear the fauxcialite is leaving Diane Von Furstenberg's fashion firm to join Elle. Our source says the oft-photographed Palermo will be working in the magazine's publicity department. Palermo's rep said, "I haven't heard anything about Olivia going over to Elle," but Elle had "no comment." An MTV rep said, "Olivia is currently still working at DVF." (Page Six)
Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour admits she wears sunglasses indoors as protection. "They are seriously useful," she tells Morley Safer -- who shadowed her to Milan, Paris and the Costume Institute gala at the Met -- on "60 Minutes" this Sunday. "I can sit in a show and if I am bored out of my mind, nobody will notice . . . At this point, they have become, really, armor." (Page Six)
Kelly Bensimon really is sorry for being obnoxious to Bethenny Frankel on "The Real Housewives of New York City," despite claiming otherwise on the show. The women got into a spat after Frankel sniffed that haughty Bensimon thought she was Madonna. Bensimon then called a one-on-one meeting and told Frankel, as she moved her hand from table height to above her shoulder, "You're down here, and I'm up here." But Bensimon later sent Frankel an e-mail: "I honestly owe you an apology." Bensimon lists several mitigating factors: 1) an ex-boyfriend "harassing me like crazy," 2) "I was late because I had to organize the girls to go to the beach," and, 3) "My driver who has been with me since I was 23 told me he had terminal cancer." The former model concludes, "I am horrified that I was rude to you." If only Kelly had said that on air, viewers wouldn't hate her so much. (Page Six)
Jon Stewart might want to keep an eye out for Jim Cramer. CNBC's "Mad Money" man is still smarting from his appearance on Stewart's "Daily Show" in March, when the Comedy Central host ripped him as an irresponsible Wall Street cheerleader. "I tried not to take it personally, but it was so vicious," Cramer tells Time magazine, out tomorrow. "The ultimate takeaway from the evening was, Jim, why didn't you defend yourself? And the answer is, I was trying to defend our network and take a high road and I didn't want to hit him with a chair or break his face or something like that. But he was very vicious. One day he'll answer for it." (Page Six)
Bethenny Frankel is ready for her body-baring close-up. The Real Housewives of New York City star and E! Online celebrity blogger has signed on to strip down for PETA's iconic "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" ad campaign. Frankel says she has absolutely no trouble posing in the buff. She actually appears topless in a 1994 indie flick called Hollywood Hills 90028. (Yeah, we've never heard of it either.) "I'm unexpectedly not that concerned with body image," Frankel, author of the New York Times best-selling nutritional guidebook Naturally Thin, tells me exclusively. "Take me as I am." Frankel credits Fendi for getting her stop wearing fur...sorta. A PETA protest at an event for the legendary Italian fashion house included graphic images of skinned animals. "I was ignorant," Frankel says. "I felt disgusting...Is a fur-lined jacket or boots really that important?" Frankel will be photographed on "an iconic New York City rooftop" this summer, according to rep for the animal-rights group. She joins a long list of celebs who have bared all for PETA, including recent participants like Eva Mendes, Khloe Kardashian, Roselyn Sanchez and Holly Madison. Hunkster Owain Yeoman of television's The Mentalist appears shirtless in a just-released PETA ad promoting vegetarianism. The physically fit Frankel insists she won't be doing anything special to firm up before the shoot. "Obsessive dieting and working out is not a part of my life," she says. "I do yoga once or twice a week...I'm 38 years old, and this is what I look like." (Eonline)
David Hasselhoff's ex-wife, Pamela Bach, spoke with reporters on the red carpet of Wednesday night's Maxim's Hot 100 party and only had words of encouragement for her ex. Really????? The Hoff, who has been openly struggling with alcoholism, recently spent a night in the hospital for booze poisoning. His ex, however, said, "The only thing I can say is that he's the father of my children, and I will always love and respect that" and wished him only the best in dealing with a "very cunning and baffling disease." We wish him the best too! (Perez Hilton)
City workers demolishing part of a Mumbai slum on Thursday bulldozed the home of a Slumdog Millionaire child star. Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail was asleep in his shanty when a police officer woke him up and told him to leave, he said. Shortly after that, about 30 homes were destroyed. "A police officer took a bamboo stick to hit me and I was frightened," said 10-year-old Azhar. Eight Oscars and $326 million in box office receipts have so far done little to improve the lives of the film's two impoverished child stars, Azhar and Rubina Ali. They have been showered with gifts and brief bursts of fame, but their day-to-day lives are little changed. Thursday morning, city workers flanked by policemen arrived as part of a slum demolition drive — common in India's crowded chaotic cities. "They didn't give prior notice. We didn't even get a chance to take out our belongings," said Shameem Ismail, Azhar's mother, who has lived in the shanty town for more than 15 years. She has no legal right to the land. "I don't know what I am going to do," she said, sitting on a bed she had dragged from the wreckage. Next to her was a plastic bag stuffed with belongings. Slumdog filmmakers say they've done their best to help. They set up a trust, called Jai Ho, after the hit song from the film, to ensure the children get proper homes, a good education and a nest egg when they finish high school. They also donated $747,500 to a charity to help slum kids in Mumbai. Producer Christian Colson has described the trust as substantial, but won't tell anyone how much — not even the parents — for fear of making the children vulnerable to exploitation. (Daily Record)
An attorney for Rob Lowe says dueling lawsuits between the actor and a former nanny have been dismissed. Larry Stein confirmed Tuesday that the cases involving Jessica Gibson have been dismissed. He didn't provide details. Gibson was a nanny for Lowe's children. The 45-year-old Brothers and Sisters actor filed a defamation lawsuit in April 2008 claiming she demanded $1.5 million to remain silent about sexual abuse allegations later included in her countersuit. Gibson says Lowe touched her inappropriately several times between September 2005 and January 2008. A lawsuit filed against another former nanny remains active. Gibson's attorney didn't immediately return an e-mail seeking comment. People.com first reported the dismissals. (Daily Record)
Farrah Fawcett has dropped the lawsuit she filed over the iconic photo of her in a red swimsuit. Go ahead, you know you want to stare at it. Fawcett sued Bio-Graphics, Inc, Pie International Inc. and author T.N. Trikilis back in February after they allegedly tried to lay claim to the famous hot shot and sell it as their own. Farrah entered the dismissal on May 11. (TMZ)
Now that a New York State Appellate Court ruling has placed in jeopardy Victoria Gotti's Long Island mansion – the five-bedroom, 5½-bath white brick residence familiar to viewers of her 2004 Growing Up Gotti reality show – the daughter of late Mob boss John Gotti declares, "This is by no means over!" Speaking outside Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday, after a hearing over her dispute with over her $650,000 debt to housing lender JPMorgan Chase, Gotti, 46, said, "I'm never going to lose the house – trust me," reports New York's two tabloids, the New York Post and Daily News. "The only way I'm leaving is selling it, and we wanted out of there, anyway." The house currently is on the market for $3.2 million. When word of Gotti's housing problem became public earlier this week, the so-called Mafia Princess told Newsday, "I'm bitter. The house, all the marital assets, are part of a divorce package [from ex-husband, Carmine Agnello], I have never seen yet." A 2007 lower court decision called JPMorgan Chase's foreclosure on the property premature, while last week a Brooklyn appeals court reversed that ruling – as well as approved a plan to appoint a referee to coordinate the sale of the residence. Her Financial Plan But Gotti insists there's a light at the end of the tunnel. She intends to clear her debt once she seizes control of commercial properties belonging to her ex, an auto shredder who served a nine-year prison sentence for racketeering. Though at the time of his sentencing in 2001 Agnello surrendered his claim on the properties, the feds have agreed to permit Gotti to assume ownership – provided she can pay off the liens on them. This would allow her to lease out the properties and pay off her mortgage. But, both newspapers point out, Agnello's 85-year-old mother, Marie, owns three of the properties in question – and could therefore kill any chance for Victoria's deal. Not that Gotti is playing diplomat. Speaking outside the court Wednesday, she blasted Carmine for taking an $856,000 loan out against the Westbury, Long Island, home without her knowledge and called him a deadbeat dad to their three sons: Carmine Jr., John and Frank Agnello. "Too many fathers walk away from their responsibilities, and my ex-husband is one of them," she said, according to the News. (People)
Survivor champ Richard Hatch has been released from federal prison after spending four years behind bars for tax evasion. The 48-year-old Hatch -- who was convicted in January 2006 of failing to pay taxes on the $1 million prize he won on the first season of the CBS reality show -- left a federal prison in West Virginia on Monday. He was released early due to good behavior. He will reside in a halfway house in Pennsylvania until Oct. 7, said Carla Wilson, a spokeswoman for the Northeast Regional office of the Bureau of Prisons. Hatch -- best known as "the fat, naked guy" on Survivor -- has maintained his innocence all along, claiming that he thought the show's producers would handle his taxes and that he was ignorant about money matters. (CBS has denied Hatch's claims.) He appeared upbeat when he was sentenced to 51 months behind bars in 2006. He shook hands with his lawyers and greeted family members, yelling out, "See you later, Mom." (US Weekly)
